Stephen Procter’s Grand Gesture: Monumental Vessels in the Garden exhibition features eight of his ceramic sculptural vessels placed among the blooms and landscapes at Berkshire Botanical Garden.
With the show running from May through October 2026, Stephen asked us to capture the work on site and observe the changing light, weather conditions, and how people interact with the works. We also made some portraits of Stephen alongside his creations.
“One of the things I love most about showing this work outdoors is how the pieces continually change. Rain gives them a shine, shadows from leaves dance across their surfaces, and over time they take on the patina of the landscape itself. It is always deeply rewarding when someone encounters a piece in its setting and says, “It looks like it has always been here!”.
